I'm a firm believer in second chances. I always think people have the ability to change. I believe in people and I see the good in everyone. However, I'm not as strong a believer in third chances. Or at least not fourth or fifth. When someone proves time and time again that they don't deserve more chances, I don't think they should get any more.
A few weeks ago, I started a photo journal here on LJ. As I'm going to study photography in England this autumn, I thought it would be fun to have a place to show off some of my pics. I've already started posting some stuff. Pretty much. There's always some guy who catches my fancy and I fall totally in love. And it really is totally. With all of me. Every waking moment is spent thinking about him and I'll do almost anything to be around him. But I'll never tell him, because, though I know within me that he doesn't care about me the same way, having it onfirmed by him saying so, would shatter the dream. And besides it might jeopardize the good thing we've got going. I'd rather be his friend than nothing at all.

I am now back from Edinburgh, which was wonderful, and here follows a possibly boring and very butchered (meaning chopped up in short sentences) account of my travels:

I went together with my dad. It was nice. =)

Day 1 (Tuesday):
Arrive in Edinburgh at 10.00 am.
Check in at hostel. Our reservation was missing, but they had avaliable rooms, so it was okay.
Eat lunch at a pub-like restaurant. My dad tries Haggis and likes it.
Visit Edinburgh Castle. It really lovely and my mind immediately thinks of Hogwarts. =)
We walk a bit along the Royal Mile (street that streches from Edinburgh Castle to the Palace of Holyroodhouse).
Are tired, so we sleep at the hostel for about and hour.
Walk down Nicholson's Street to where Nicholson's Cafe used to be. This is where JK Rowling wrote a lot of the first HP book. The cafe doesn't exist anymore, but there is a plaque outside the building with Jo's name and picture.
We eat dinner at a restaurant nearby.
Walk a bit in the city.
Go home. Sleep.

Day 2 (Wednesday):
Get up at 10.
Eat breakfast at a cafe near hostel.
Go walking in the Old Town. Along the Royal Mile.
Visit the Camera Obscura where we see a lot of fun optical illusions as well as a great view of Edinburgh.
Walk all the way to the end of the Royal Mile.
Visit Houses of Parliament. Listen in on a debate about transport. (The result of the debate was reported in the paper the next day.)
Get coffee at Starbucks. This is a big thing for me, as there are no Starbucks in Norway, and I love Frappuchinos....
Walk to Princes Street, the shopping street. All shops are closed (as it is the afternoon), but we enjoy a walk in Princes Street Park. Lovely view of Edinburgh Castle from there. It really looks like Hogwarts fom this direction.
Walk a while and find a restaurant where we eat dinner.
We walk towards the hostel. Stop at a pub and relax for a while.
Go home. Sleep.

Day 3 (Thursday):
Get up at 9:30.
Eat breakfast at a cafe nearby.
Walk to Saint Andrew's Square where we take the bus out to Roslin Village.
Walk from village to Rosslyn Chapel. This is the chapel at the end of "The Da Vinci Code". The chapel is lovely, but the landscape around it even more so.
We eat lunch in a bar in Roslin Village.
We walk a bit in the village while waiting for the bus.
Take the bus back to Edinburgh.
Walk along Princes Street again. Buy some books and a DVD.
Stop for coffee at Starbucks.
Walk around on Royal Mile, look in souvenir shops.
Eat at an Indian restaurant. Strange place. The food is good, but they had metal/heavy metal/hard rock music on the entire time. Not that I mind this kind of music, but in an Indian restaurant, it seemed somewhat out of place. And it was a bit tiring while eating.
Go to a pub for dessert.
Go home. Sleep.

Day 4 (Friday):
Get up at 8:30
Go to a juice bar for breakfast.
Buy CD with Scottish music.
Go to Whisky museum. This was an interesting tour. I now know the difference between single malt and grain whisky. I know how they're made and a bit of the history of whisky.
Take the bus to airport.
Go home.

I'm also visiting Rosslyn Chapel (the one in The Da Vinci Code), but other than that I don't know... hmmm.... I'm only staying for 4 days, though, so I don't have time for very much. I want to see the city a bit, you, know, just walk in the streets and get a feel of what it's like there. I'm planning on applying to university there, so it's nice to know whether I like the city before I apply. =)

Anyone know any other places I should visit?

Yay!!

Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
Don't forget to leave them a comment telling them they're tagged, and to read your blog.

Okay... Let's see...

1. I went to the midnight premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End last night! That was so much fun! More on that will come (hopefully), with my review of the movie. I have been a Pirates fan since I saw the first movie. I saw that one quite late though. It was one of the last days the cinema showed it. But I loved it so much. The first thing I said when it was over was, "I want to see it again!"

2. My final exams are coming up next week. I am NOT looking forward to that. I have two written Norwegian exams next week (Tuesday and Thursday). Then I have my practical drama exam the week after that and that one lasts for three days...! Then, the week after that, I have one oral exam. I don't know which subject yet. I don't get to know until two says before. It could be Modern History, Religions, Norwegian or a drama subject that focuses on movement.

3. The past four or five years I've wanted to study drama after high school, but this year I really didn't like my dramateacher, so I've found out that I don't want to study drama anymore. It's really difficult to get a job anyway, so it's probably best not to. Drama will be a hobby for me in the future. I have instead decided to study litterature. I love reading so much that I think that would be perfect for me! =) I'd love to study history as well, but I think I'll go for litterature as the main subject. This all means that I'll most likely end up as a teacher after university, which is fine by me! I love teaching. =)

4. I'd love to work in a publishing company someday. Or I'd like to own a small bookshop at the corner of a small street in a beautiful small town where everybody knows everybody. I think that would be nice...

5. I sleep too little. I've found out that it makes me really emotional. I cry all the time these days, even at little things that shouldn't make me cry. I really need to sleep more. I blame it all on fanfiction, though. It keeps me up at night! =)

6. The fact that I'm moving out in a few months has really made me think about what I'll need when I live on my own. For the first time I want "house stuff" for my birthday. I'd love to get stuff like blankets, cups and towels! I'm a bit surprised at myself.

7. Next year my oldest uncle will be 80 years old! Isn't that incredible! He's actually going to be 80!!! I'll be 20, which means put together we'll be 100 years old. He acts and seems very young for his age, though, so I'm not really worried that he'll die or something like that. People who don't know him would guess that he's around 70. It's a bit scary though, because 80 years is quite old, and he is my favourite uncle. You never know what could happen.

8. I bought a headset for my computer a few months ago. It's great for Skype and programs like that and for listening to music, so I don't bother my mum with it. The odd thing, though is that I wear the headset even when there's no music on, like now. I guess it just feels comfy or something. That is so strange....

Well that was all from me! I'm tagging evereone who wants to do it, because I'm lazy. Oh, I should stop being lazy! But it's more fun that everyone can do it anyway... =)

Consider yourself tagged!

I have recently discovered Mika, and I really feel that he is the most brilliant artist ever!!!

First I heard Grace Kelly and found that song to be totally awesome and then I downloaded a few of his songs and completely loved them all!!!

Then I bought his album! =)

I'm now a proud owner of Mika - Life In Cartoon Motion!

This music is so great because it's so happy!!!! I could just dance to it forever!! Bounce around and smile and laugh!

I particulary like the song Big Girl (You Are Beautiful). Being overweight myself, this song is just perfect for me! It's about time that someone made a song that hits back on todays fashion that is to be super thin! Mika wrote this song for his mother, because he used to be teased when he was little becasue he had a big mother.

Big is beautiful!

Yesterday I met a boy called Ben who looks exactly like Mika! It was weird, cause we had just put on the Mika CD when he came into the room...!

In other news, I have just gotten a "job" as an editor for a Norwegian Harry Potter site!! I say "job" because it's more a hobby as I don't get payed or anything...! =) My job is to translate the Norwegian articles to English. The site is here, if you want to check it out! Just click on the British flag on the side if you want to read the English parts.

Plays and schools

We've been working on a play at school now, the past six months (you might know that I attend a drama high school) and yesterday we had the premiere!!!

Now... we've all been a bit upset with our teacher and the play in general. It's a modern play called "Illyria", written by Bryony Lavery in 2000. It's about a conuntry called Illyria where there's a civil war raging (it's quite similar to the way eastern european countries have been). We follow a reporter who goes there to write an article about the war.

Now, at first I didn't like the play and definitely didn't want to do it. Then I got the worst parts in the play, so I wasn't really happy.

But after a while the play grew on me and I started liking it more and more, mainly because we made some good stuff for my parts. =)

Then it went downhill again. Always when you approach the premiere you start wondering if it's a good play or not. I started really hating the play and hating the teacher...

But then came the premiere. Our audience gave us lots of praise and told us it was really well done, so now I'm really happy about it again!!! We played two shows today and they also both went well. I'm really looking forward to showing it to my friends and family now! They're coming to see it on Thursday. =)

On a completely different note.. I've decided what I want to do when I finish high school in June!!

First I'm going to a "Folk high school". Those schools are boarding schools that you stay at for a year and study a subject you find fun and interesting. There are no exams or tests, just fun! It'll be nice to have a year of relaxing. Now however, I don't know which school to choose! I got in to one where I can study the US and go on a month long trip there. That would be great, as I've really wanted to visit the US for a while now. Or.. I could choose another one where I'd be studying art for a year and I get a 3 week trip to India. There I'll also have one of my best friends at the same school. Hmmm.... A third choice is a Theatre/Musical school. I will choose that one if I get in, but I haven't gotten an answer from them yet. But if I don't get in to that one, which should I choose??? PLEASE HELP ME!! I really don't know which one I want...

Anyway... After that one year, I plan on going to Britain to study at a university. I'm hoping to get into Queen Margaret's University College in Edinburgh, because they have a really good drama school. One of Britains best, I've been told. But, as chances are small of getting in, I'll also be applying to other drama schools as well as applying for different subjects at that school. I'm crossing my fingers that it'll work out!!

I mean... Edinburgh... Not only do they have a castle, speak in a beautiful accent, but they have JK Rowling!!!

Who could ask for more?

She's really good at sewing, and I've not really sewed much before... I'll try to post some pictures of the dress later, when I've taken some, so you can all se what it looks like! =)

To jump to a completely different subject...

The weather..

I've noticed that most of my posts have been about that lately. And with good reason! The weather has been so strange this winter. My father (who is nearing 60 years old) has never seen a winter like this!!

In my last post I told you that it had snowed. Well, that snow was gone in two days. But now, the snow's back. And it seems like it'll stay a bit longer now. There's a ton of snow outside now, so it seems winter has finally come to Norway. But I really don't know... It could be gone in a few days... But really there's a TON of snow here now!!

It snowed so much yesterday!! And with the wind too, it was pretty much a blizzard. And I had to go outside to buy some stuff for my dress in that weather... That wasn't very comfortable! It was too cold and too wet! But I suppose I should be glad we finally have snow! =) I wish it had been here for Christmas, though...

Getting to school tomaorrow will be hell... The bus company is never prepared for snow, even though we get it every year...

In celebration of this wonderful snow, I have changed the layout of my journal! =)

Ta Da!!

Cute little snowman!!!
I stole this from bunney

1. What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I probably made resolutions like: lose weight, exercise more, ect.. But I didn't keep them! This year I have none!

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No, but my cousin is pregnant!

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No, and I'm very glad for that!

5. What countries did you visit?
Sweden and Denmark (sort of the standard for us Norwegians, so it's not really exciting) and England (which is a lot more exciting!)

6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
I'd love to have a boyfriend and I'd love to have BOOK SEVEN!!!

7. What dates from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I don't think there are any very special ones... Except the fact that I turned 18. That's kinda big! I'm legal!

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I'm not really sure... I think my part as the Mountain King in out school performance of Peer Gynt is high on the list, though...

9. What was your biggest failure?
Failing to keep my new years resolutions? Maybe...

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
A lot of colds and scratches... And a bit of depression this fall...

11. What was the best thing you bought?
My iPod and my new laptop!! =)

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
Scott in my class definitely merits celebration! He is the best at cheering up anyone! He is definitely the most fun and outgoing person I know!

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Certain politicians make want to vomit and a girl in my class who is completely false in everything she does... Or so it seems.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Food... I ate way too much snacks this year... That should be my new year's resolution: STOP DOING THAT!!!

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
The Title for book seven, by 18th birthday, Christmas, Visiting England in January, thinking of going to Sectus 2007 next summer.

16. What song will always remind you of 2006?
I'm not sure... Probably Madonna's new songs or something like that... 'Crazy' by Gnarls Barkley. Oh and also there's this Swedish song that just... GETS ON MY NERVES! But it's kinda cool anyway...

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
I. happier or sadder? Happier
ii. thinner or fatter? Fatter, definitely (all those snacks...)
iii. richer or poorer? A little bit richer

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
I wish I'd exercised more. I've been crap at that this year.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Sitting and reading fanfic... I do that way too much...

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
I spent it with my mother (see post about Christmas holidays)

21. What LJ users did you meet for the first time?
If you mean in real life, then I've met no one...

22. Did you fall in love in 2006?
Yes, I do that all the time... But sadly they never love me back, or if they do, I never find out because I'm too chicken to let them know how I feel...

23. How many one-night stands?
None

24. What was your favourite TV program?
Desperate Housewives and Rome and possibly Grey's Anatomy

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Nah... I like to think that I don't hate anyone. Hate is such a strong feeling. I may strongly DISLIKE someone, but currently I don't hate anyone...

26. What was the best book you read?
Eragon by Christopher Paolini

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
I discovered that I love the song 'Crazy' by Gnarls Barkley and that is really completely different from all other music I listen to. Also I've discovered that my favourite music is becoming more defined. I used to say that I like everything, but now I find that there are only certain types of music I really listen to. Mostly jazz og classical... The calming relaxing songs...

28. What did you want and get?
iPod, laptop, lots of books and DVDs...

29. What did you want and not get?
A smaller body, I suppose and my driving license.. I'm so slow when it comes to actually getting it... I haven't even started practicing yet... A job.

30. What was your favourite film of this year?
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
On my birthday I sat at home and studied for an exam I had the next day... I turned eighteen. I did celebrate though. The weekend before. With a huge party with all my friends and a family party.

32.What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
If I'd had a job, so I could earn a bit of money on my own and not live off my parents all the time. Especially now that I'm eighteen. I have to get a job now, though, since I want to go to Sectus 2007. I have to pay for that myself...

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?
Not a lot of fashion there at all... I don't care about what's popular... I wear what I find comfortable.

34. What kept you sane?
Definitely Harry Potter stuff... My mom thinks that's bad for me, since I'm so extremely into it, but I feel that some of my best experiences are with people who love HP. I've been a bit depressed parts of the past year, thinking that all my friends hate me and such, so it's been great to have you online friends to cheer me up! =)

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Johnny Depp!! Most definitely Johnny Depp! Or maybe Jason Isaacs..? He is so good at being bad!

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
I think all the wars in the world have stirred me the most... And that the political party I support here in Norway had been getting a lot of resitance after they and two other parties joined in govenment last year (2005).

37. Who did you miss?
A friend of mine who lived in England half the year. And I missed my parents living together (as they are now divorced).

38. Who was the best new person you met?
Lots of HP people!!

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006.
I think I learned that my friends don't stop being my friends just because it may seem like they've forgotten me for a while. There was a period this year when I thought everyone hated me, but I know now that they didn't and I'm happy again! =)

40. Quote a song lyric / movie quote that sums up your year.
"Always look on the bright side of life!"

I must admit that I cheated and checked leakynews.com to find out how to open the door, but the hangman game was all me!

I actually got it right quite quickly because I understood quite quickly that the first word was deathly and so the next came quite easily after that.

At first I thought that it might not be the title... I had to check all the web pages to get it confirmed before I believed it.

Now as to theories... I'm not good at coming up with theories myself, so I read others' theories and choose the ones I believe in. This time I believe the theory about the Arthurian legends. That the hallows refer to the horcruxes. It definitely seems like the most likely thing for Jo to do.

Well, that's all I have to say for now!

Except:

OHMYFUCKINGGODWEHAVEATITLEANDIREALLYHOPETHATMEANSTHEBOOKWILLBEOUTSOONBECASUEI'MSOEXITED!!!!!!

SQUEEE!!!!!!!!
